Justin Hoyte has finally completed his transfer to Middlesbrough in a deal worth £3 million. The former England U21 right back has found his chances limited at the Emirates due to the performances of Bakary Sagna and made only 3 appearances in the league last season. Talking to Boro’s official site, Hoyte said:
“It was very strange travelling to a Champions League qualifier and being on the bench for that game and the next day coming to training and finding out I was coming to Middlesbrough, but it’s something I’m looking forward to.“It happened so fast, I found out Boro were interested, then they’d had a bid accepted and the next day I was up here having a medical.”
After scoring on his debut, Nasri has been included in the French National team, replacing the injured Ben Arfa and is joined in the swaud by Gallas, Clichy and Sagna. Walcott is the only Arsenal player to be named for the England squad.
Reports have linked Arsenal to Xabi Alonso and Rafa Benitez has said that the club may let him go due to competition for places. It is reported a cut price deal could be struck for around £12 million. Arsenal Column feel Xabi could be an inspired piece of business and could make Arsenal favourite’s for the title. Whether he is in Wenger’s plans are as yet unknown.
In other news, defenders Håvard Nordtveit and Pedro Botelho have been sent on loan to Spanish Segunda side UD Salamanca.
