Stoke City 2-1 Arsenal: Player Ratings

Arsenal Ratings (4-4-2)

1. Manuel Almunia (5): Could have come out for the first goal and stayed on his feet for the second. Hope confidence doesn’t kill the keeper who’s game is built on the command of his area.

3. Bakary Sagna (6): Did well with the danger around him and looked to support the midfield in wide areas but had no one to cross to. Injured and subbed >57 Walcott )

5. Kolo Toure (5): Produced a determined display though was beaten in the air from Fuller for the first goal. May have been tugged but was given a rough time by the strikers. Moved to right back later on.

18. Mikael Silvestre (6): Was given a tough time by Sidibe and Fuller but stuck to the task fairly adequately.

22. Gael Clichy (7): Got his first goal for the club and had an overall busy game. Put in some decent tackles but would be disappointed at those around him at the moment. Needs work on the attacking side.

15. Denilson (6): Was part of a flat midfield four on the right hand side but didn’t provide much width. Was too deep but was energetic. Could have contribute more if he attacked more. Subbed > 65 Van Persie

4. Cesc Fabregas (6): Had next to nothing to work in front of him as Stoke set out the stall and made it difficult. Needs a more quality to work with.

17. Alex Song (5): Was the deepest midfielder and had to be wary on the counter but attacking wise had nothing to offer.

2. Abou Diaby (6): Got plenty of the ball early but didn’t do much with it. Sluggish and took too long on the left hand side, was better when moved to the centre.

25. Emmanuel Adebayor (6): Wanted to make things happen but the best he could do was move out wide. Needs to be clever with his movement and get more involved. Injured and booked. yellow card Subbed > 72 Vela

26. Nicklas Bendtner (4): Didn’t do much when he had the ball as his distribution was poor, link up and hold up play.

14. Theo Walcott (6): (On for Sagna 57) Provided some of the width which was missing in his brief spell in the second half.

11. Robin Van Persie (2): (On for  Denilson 65) Wasted Arsenal’s best chances of a point at least by reacting and getting sent off. Silly. Red Card red card

12. Carlos Vela (5): (On for  Adebayor 72) The game was lost when he came on and had nothing to work with from the left.

  1. What a Fucking Disgrace.

Wenger picked the completely wrong team. He couldn’t have gotten his tactics wrong because he clearly didn’t use any, as usual. All the wrong players and everything else was wrong too. Almunia was shakey again and thats not good against Stoke. Wengers defo wont quit and defo wont be forced to quit by the board so………….

Get Van Basten and Dennish in as a replacement. Wenger is fucking up the club by prolonging his stay. He isnt learning and doesnt look like doing so either. I would do a better job…well maybe not but you know what I mean.

  2. I think we are going a little over board at the moment.

Currently we are falling apart and there are clearly issues with this team that needs addressing.

Wenger was wrong not to address these issue in the summer, especially the lack of a central defender.

BUT 90% of this side were on top of the league for a vast majority of the season last year, that is not bad management or luck.

We have plenty of talented players in our squad and can beat anyone on our day, the problem seems to be mental as well as missing a couple big spinal players.

We are not all of a sudden a poor side with a manager who does not know what he is doing. I still think he is doing the right thing but has made mistakes by not bringing in 10% which would help the side.

Wenger has many problems to fix, and hopefully before they get worse and it looks like the league has gone already which is very upsetting at this stage but it does not mean that he is clueless.
