Arsenal v Manchester United: Player Ratings + Stats

Manuel Almunia (7): Made some good saves and was a commanding once again behind the back four. Went of injured after a Carrick kick in the face making a  brave take. Subbed 78> Fabianski

Bakary Sagna (7): Had a good battle with Evra at left back and had to be one his toes as the United attack continuously switched sides and attacked the wings. yellow card

William Gallas (8): Put in some brilliant blocks and read the game well in a strong second half after early danger from Manchester United. yellow card

Mikael Silvestre (7): Uncomfortable start to the game and looked like he didn’t want the ball but grew as the game wore on a tackled and headed well.

Gael Clichy (8): Energetic display from the Frenchman as he was exposed at times by Nasri but put in a strong game against Ronaldo and attacked better too. yellow card

Theo Walcott (6): Didn’t quite make the impact he could have as he was penned back by Evra and a couple of runs were left ignored. His run opened up space for the second. Subbed 77> Song

Cesc Fabregas (7): Played more than his fair share of misplaced passes and also left Denilson exposed at times but started up a few Arsenal attacks.

Denilson (6): Tried his best but was surrounded by blue shirts as his teammates ignored their defensive duties. Still needs work but his passing was good.

Samir Nasri (9)*: Was the star man as he ran tirelessly in attack and was ta the heart of Arsenal’s moves. Scored two and looked to create others. His best game for The Gunners.

Abou Diaby (7): Started well as he linked up play and drove forward, even tracking back at times. His influence lessened in the second half. Subbed 86> Toure

Nicklas Bendtner (7): Worked tirelessly unpfront and even though his finishing could have been better, gave Ferdinand and Vidic a hard day.

Subs

Lucasz Fabianski (6): (On for Almunia 78)- Was beaten comprehensively for Rafael’s goal but did okay.
Kolo Toure (6): (On for Diaby 86)- Looked to add defensive steel at the end by playing on the right.
Alex Song (6): (On for Walcott 77)- Played in front of the defense and did well.

Not used: Vela, Ramsey, Wilshere, Djourou

Man Utd

Edwin Van der Sar (5): Flapped at a corner and doesn’t look as commanding as his former years.
Gary Neville (6): Was given a hard time from Nasri but made some good passes. Subbed > 63 R Da Silva
Rio Ferdinand (6): Bendtner made him work hard and didn’t look as composed today.
Nemanja Vidic (6): Again given a hard time from Bendtner and the Arsenal midfield.
Patrice Evra (7): Attacked well and coped with the threat from Walcott. yellow card
Cristiano Ronaldo (7): Wasted one of United’s best chance but played in some good balls and was dangerous.
Anderson (6): Started well as his ball rentention was superb but faded. Subbed > 72 Giggs
Micheal Carrick (6): Passed the ball as well as ever and had a good chance. yellow card
Park Ji Sung (7): Was dangerous at the start with his industry and hard work but again faided.
Wayne Rooney (7): Was United’s most dangerous player at the start but his influence dropped as United chased the game. Missed two good chances. Subbed > 77 Tevez
Dimitar Berbatov (5): Had the space but was too deep at times and couldn’t make the desired impact his is capable of.

    Rafael Da Silva (7): Scored a great goal as he sacrificed his defensive duties.
    Ryan Giggs (6): Couldn’t inluence enough
    Carlos Tevez (5): Didn’t make an impact.
