Middlesbrough 1-1 Arsenal: Player Ratings + Stats

Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor (l) celebrates scoring the opening goal of the game with Johan Djourou

Manuel Almunia (6): Didn’t have too much to do but made a good save from Downing. Some good anticipation and some not so good.

Bakary Sagna (6): Had a good battle with Downing and made some good tackles. Provided able support to attack too.

William Gallas (7): Read the game well and did well considering what was in front of him.

Johan Djourou (6): Quiet and efficient. Sometimes looked vulnerable from the counter but coped well.

Gael Clichy (5): Confidence sorely lacking from the left and looked to make things happen after his clearance led to the first goal.

Denilson (5): Nice passes but not enough threat from his position.

Cesc Fabregas (8)*: Kept the team ticking and played some great passes especially in the first half.

Alex Song (6): Sloppy distribution and ball watching at times but was determined and for the most part committed.

Abou Diaby (5): Started well but faded and was giving a frustrating ride by McMahon. yellow card (Sub > 82 Bendtner)

Robin Van Persie (6): Played higher up the field and had a couple of good chances. His creativity and link up play was needed.

Emmanuel Adebayor (7): Drifted into channels and caused danger but seemed to lack the support he needed.

>Nicklas Bendtner  (6): (On 82 for Diaby) Had two good chances but added fresh legs and extra when coming on.

  1. A six for Song is overly generous. He is in way over his head. His distribution wasn’t sloppy, it was God awful. A team that starts Denilson, Song and Diaby as 3/4 of their midfield isn’t going to win a thing.

  2. Diaby made a lot of bad passes in the first half, I cant see why he was still on in the 2th, the same goes for Song.

  3. I really cant beleive how much width Arsenal lacked. I thought Eboue should have started. Diaby was horrible down the left. I dont think he can play wide. This was a great time to bring Wilshere on . I dont why Wenger hasnt tested him yet. Also i think what Arsenal really needs is someone who can perform in the flanks. There is too much emphasis on the Central Midfield player while we seriously lack in width. I mean we were really exposed with the absence of both Nasri and Walcott.
